Our Review
The Mexicana® Airlines Visa® Platinum Plus® Card, issued by FIA Card Services, N.A., is designed for those who travel frequently with Mexicana® Airlines or any of its partners and would like to take advantage of the mileage reward program.
Through the reward program, cardholders earn two miles per dollar spent with Mexicana® Airlines and one mile per dollar spent on all other purchases. 4,000 bonus miles are applied to the account upon approval after joining the Frecuenta Loyalty Program, and cardholders receive a free companion ticket after their first purchase. Plus, an additional 2,000 miles and a $99 companion ticket are applied to the account every year on the date of the account opening. Miles never expire, and there is no limit to the number of miles that can be earned.
The annual fee of $45 is reasonable as compared to other airline reward cards. There is a 1.9% introductory rate that applies to purchases, balance transfers, and cash advance checks for the first six billing cycles, and the interest rate remains reasonable for a reward card after the introductory rate expires.
In addition to the reward program, cardholders can expect various benefits such as purchase protection, auto rental insurance, and various travel and emergency assistance services.
